Wines from Karamolegos Winery

Pyritis Mega Cuvée

Dry white wine, Appellation of Origin Santorini of High Quality

Grape: Assyrtiko 100%

Vinification: All the grapes were handpicked and brought to the press as whole bunches. Only neutral yeasts were used and we took care to vinify these parcels as naturally as possible letting them speak for themselves.

Tasting notes: Pure nose, full of minerality and flint which is a typical hint of Santorini’s Assyrtiko. Notes of matured stone-fruits and tart of citrus fruits. The palate shows considerable depth and genuine concentration, rich and dense with finesse and well balanced acidity. Long aftertaste with saltiness and minerality.

Food Pairing: Matches perfectly with oily fish or salmon carpaccio. Alternatively try it with lamb fricassee or white meat like stuffed turkey, making also a great pair with pasta or shellfish risotto

About the Winery:
The Karamolegos Winery, founded in 1952 by Artemis Karamolegos, began from a passion for winemaking passed down to him from his beloved grandfather who made wine in a small cave or “canava” using the old traditional methods. In 2004, a new and modern winery was built to take advantage of the latest in modern technology, while also adhering to the traditional practices passed down from generations. Artemis has been a champion, not only of the main Assyrtiko variety, but has also invested in the cultivation of some of the more obscure indigenous varieties of Santorini, like Mavrotragano, Aidani, Mavrathiro and Voudomato.
